Women in Big Data Toronto launched in 2018 when a group of friends came together to discuss the their professional challenges while working in the technology space. We discovered there was a lack of guidance and resources for data-related roles in general - common questions kept resurfacing: what does career progression in tech look like? Who can I turn to for advice? How can I connect with others in the field?

Through a little research, we came across the Women in Big Data Global Initiative, whose purpose was to combat exactly the kinds of problems were encountering through a unique globally led-locally run operating model. With their support, we have been able to curate programs that are relevant to members in the Toronto/ GTA region, and provide a space to build authentic, lasting connections.
